DVD/Blu-Ray Region code.

[DVD]

DVD region codes are a digital rights management technique designed
to allow film distributors and television companies to control aspects of a release,
including content, release date, and price, according to the region.

This is achieved by way of region-locked DVD players,
which will play back only DVDs encoded to their region (plus those without any region code).
However, region-free DVD players, which ignore region coding,
are also commercially available, and many DVD players can be modified
to be region-free, allowing playback of all discs.

DVDs may use one code, a combination of codes (multi-region),
every code (all region) or no codes (region free).

Region codeArea
FREEInformal term meaning "worldwide". Region 0 is not an official setting; discs that bear the region 0 symbol either have no flag set or have regions 1–6 flags set. Region 0 is commonly referred to as "Region Free", especially when talking about DVD and Blu-ray Disc players. But the formats of NTSC and PAL can be a factor in this.

[Blu-Ray]

As with the implementation of region codes for DVDs,
Blu-ray Disc players sold in a specific geographical region are designed
to play only discs authorized by the content provider for that region.

The Blu-ray Disc region coding scheme divides the world into three regions, labeled A, B, and C.
